Adding a drain to an Earth Box planter

The problem to resolve was the overflow water from the Earth Boxes, which would damage the wooden deck.

A section of plastic drain gutter and two end "caps" were purchased. Eighteen inch lengths of the gutters were cut from the purchased gutter. The end caps were affixed to the eighteen inch length pieces of gutter to prevent water to flow away from the garden below, which would also damage the wooden deck. Awesome Goo was used to affix the end caps. Awesome Goo was selected because it cures quickly when heated, making it possible to complete the entire process in about one hour.

I used a heat gun rather than a hair drier. It was faster. Either could be used. When using a heat gun, one should keep in mind that the plastic drain gutter is made of low density polyethylene, which softens a bit when heated. However, there was very little distortion in my case.
